what is it with obelisks and people in phallic poses? atop one tree hill sits an obelisk visible throughout auckland, couldnt help myself ...eat your heart out john holmes!
Sir John Logan Campbell (the park donor) is buried on the summit of One Tree Hill alongside the obelisk. The Maori name for the hill is Maungakiekie - mountain of the kiekie (...no joke!). Kiekie (Freycinettia banksii) grows as an epiphytic climber or vine.
